I am excited to be participating in the Sew Mama Sew giveaway day. It's hard to believe that I started this blog 3 years ago to make closet space for my little one who is now three and a half and I have another little one that is 1 1/2 years old! On the 3 year anniversary of this blog, I am very excited again to join in this year's Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day. My blog was started when I lost my crafting room when my son was born. It was an attempt by me to clear out my substantial craft supplies. I am still working on it. ;)
As this blog is about clearing out my craft closet, I am happy to send along a package with fabrics from my stash to a good home. I bought all of these fabrics with no project in particular so they've never come to anything. I think I was thinking of making a quilt with these fabrics. I liked the fabric and it was a good deal so I bought it. I just haven't made the projects. Too many projects, so little time. :) It's been difficult to get projects done around here with the two kids. I still try to craft when I can. It brings me so much satisfaction.
My giveaway prize features fabric from my stash. Three pieces. 1) A 1/2 yard piece that is mustard colored with a black design. 2) A blue piece from a quilt gone bad. It's a long piece about a yard and a half, but it's only 18 inches wide. 3) A green piece with yellow design. It's about a yard long.
It's all packaged up and ready for a winner!
To the winner, I hope you can find some good use out of these fabrics. I would love to see what you end up making. Send me a photo if you remember. This is my way of thanking the crafting community. I have learned so much from tutorials around on the web. So thank you! Samantha
To win, please leave a comment below from December 9th to December 13th at 5pm PST for a chance to win. You can write your email at ____ dot com so your email won't be picked up by spammers. Thanks. A random winner will be picked with random.org by December 14th. If the winner does not respond in 5 days another winner will be pick (Sorry). US winners only. Sorry no international shipping.

A question for you:
Do you ever buy fabric without any specific intention or do you always have a project in mind when you buy fabric?
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for helping me clear out my craft closet. :)

Some of my better ideas on this blog:
Organizing my fabric
Organizing my fabric has made my crafting time so much more efficient and pleasant. I can find everything!

Organizing fabrics with fabric swatches
If you want to take just a bit of fabric swatch to the fabric store and also want to know what fabrics you already have, this is helpful.

I have bought fabric with no plan in mind. They usually get put into the scrap projects I enjoy making. Thanks for the chance at your giveaway.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway! I often buy fabric without intention, but sometimes I have a project for which I search for the perfect fabric, too!
ReplyDeleteThese days, I tend to buy fabrics without a plan to use them. I'm doing a lot of scrappy projects, so once in a while I buy a bag of scraps from my local creative reuse center.
ReplyDeleteI always buy fabric without need to buy it :(, I'm a fabric-holic
ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveaway!! I am notorious for checking out sales and the remnant bin just to get a deal. I do not always have a plan. simpsonkathie (at) hotmail (dot) com
ReplyDeleteThese are great fabrics, the blue especially! paw52 (at) verizon (dot) net

ReplyDeleteIf it catches my eye it's mine lol.............happyness044312yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteAs often as not - no project in mind, just love the fabric.
ReplyDeleteI do believe that we buy with some sort of idea in the back of our minds. Yes you just have to love the UFO. We all have them whether or not we admit it. I love your pieces of fabric. One of us will give them a good home. Thank you for being a part of the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day. Happy Holidays to you.

Both, depending on time, opportunity and fabric offered. I use up everything, until the last 1" square, in various projects. Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteThanks for a fun giveaway. To answer your question, it depends if my fiance will be seeing the answer :) it's bout 50/50, sometimes I have a project in mind and other times the fabric inspires a project.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveaway. I usually buy fabric because I like it and then choose a pattern to use it in.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveaway - they all sound like they would be good additions to my collection. Except when I travel - and seem to buy different white on whites, I do not buy unless there is a project in mind. Best wishes!
ReplyDeleteI just buy fabric for the sake of buying fabric!
ReplyDeleteI pretty much always buy what I like when it is on sale or I have a coupon and figure out what to do with it later!

I can always use more fabric, LOL!! I do a lot of quilting for the community, those fabrics would look great with some of mine. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI do both... sometimes I buy fabric just because I love it and other times I'm buying with a specific project in mind.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway. I do have a US mailing address if I'm the lucky winner.
I try to buy for specific projects but sometimes I just fall in love with a fabric and have to have it!
ReplyDeleteI try to have a project in mind, but sometimes I forget what the project was supposed to be! thanks for the chance!!
ReplyDeleteI buy the fabric I like, then create a project for it
ReplyDeleteI buy fabric only with a project in mind. ebbtide45 at yahoo dot com
ReplyDeleteUsually I will buy a bit extra to avoid having to hunt for fabric if I need a little more.
I have many fabrics I bought just because I liked them.
ReplyDeleteI buy for my stash all the time
ReplyDeleteYes, I buy fabric with no particular project in mind. Often a piece is just too pretty to resist or it adds to a current collection (eg greys, polka dots etc).
ReplyDeleteI prefer to buy fabric with a project in mind but sometimes I just buy fabric because I love what I see and I'll figure it all out later! Hehehe
ReplyDeleteOh I buy fabric and yarn when I see it at a good price and then search for a project to make with it. I know (or at least I have been told) that I am doing it backwards, but I love textiles and sometimes just seeing a fabric makes me immediately know what I will use it for!
ReplyDeleteHardly ever buy unless I have a project in mind. Thanks for the giveaway. vickise at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteI buy lots of fabric with no project in mind. I like to have stash to pull from. Some projects come from just looking around at what I have and making a plan for it. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI love fabric but I'm also a cheapskate, so if I tell myself I have to have a project in mind, it keeps my buying in check. What's nice is that I can look at fabric and think "Oh, that's for that rainbow quilt" or "that's for the charity quilt I'm going to make" and now wonder "what in the heck am I gonna do with it?"
ReplyDeleteI do both, but most of the time I buy what I like. I'm trying to move the other direction more, but well....I like fabric!
ReplyDeleteWhen I first started quilting I got so excited and overwhelmed by all the beautiful fabrics. I was caught up in the whole "gotta build my stash" mentality and bought a lot of fabric with no project in mind. I have recently gotten a lot smarter about my fabric purchases and generally always buy with a project in mind now.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I buy fabric without a project in mind if the price is right or it moves me.
ReplyDeleteMost of the time I buy fabric, just because I LOVE it, what I do with it comes later!
ReplyDeleteThose are lovely fabrics- I mostly use tone-on-tone in my projects, so those are great. I often buy fabric without a project in mind, you never know when something might come in handy!
ReplyDeleteGenerally, I have a project in mind when I buy the fabric, but then time passes and I end up making something totally different than I'd planned.

ReplyDeleteThank you for the organizational tips...I could use a bucket load of them! I promise to put that lovely fabric to good use!
ReplyDeleteI buy a lot of fabric without plans!
ReplyDeleteSome times yer and sometimes no. If it speaks to me I will usually buy it, even without a plan.
ReplyDeleteMost of the time I buy fabric without a specific intention...but then most of my buys are second hand at garage sales and thrift stores. When I do buy brand new it's usually because of some awesome deal. Thanks for this chance!
ReplyDeleteMostly I buy without a specific project in mind but I know I'll use it. And for the most part, I do. It may take a few years and there have been desperation projects. Except sometimes I buy really good fabric and hoard it. I hope to make a quilt but I love the line so much it is so hard to cut into and use up. I try to limit that kind of behavior!
ReplyDeleteI have bought fabric with no specific project in mind. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteYes I buy fabric without a plan!
ReplyDeleteI tend to buy fabrics that I like even if I don't have a specific plan. As my fabric stash has grown I have been drawn to a scrappier style of quilting, so there is always room for more fabrics and more variety!
ReplyDeleteI buy lots of fabric just because it catches my eye!
ReplyDeleteI do it ALL THE TIME, unfortunately!
ReplyDeletesometimes I buy just because!!
ReplyDeleteHello! I often by fabric just because I love it, then agonize over what to do with it. :/
ReplyDeleteI just buy it! If I love it I buy it and mix and match everything.
ReplyDeleteI buy both ways. I try to have a project in mind, but sometimes I just have to have the fabric
ReplyDeleteVery seldom do I buy fabric with a plan in mind. If I like it then I buy it.
