Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day/Week
THIS GIVEAWAY IS Officially Closed! Joan G won my fabric giveaway! Thanks to all that entered. I deleted everyone who posted an email address to protect it. Thanks.
It's hard to believe that I started this blog 2 years ago to make closet space for my little one who is now two and a half and I have another little one that is 6 months old! On the 2 year anniversary of this blog, I am very excited to join in this year's Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day.
As this blog is about clearing out my craft closet, I am happy to send along a package with fabrics from my stash to a good home. I bought all of these fabrics with no project in particular so they've never come to anything. I think I was thinking of making a quilt with some and an apron with the red. I liked the fabric and it was a good deal so I bought it. I just haven't made the projects. Too many projects, so little time. :) It's been difficult to get projects done around here with the two kids. I still try to craft when I can. It brings me so much satisfaction.
My giveaway prize features about 1/2 yard pieces of fabric from my stash. To the winner, I hope you can find some good use out of these fabrics. I would love to see what you end up making. Send me a photo if you remember. Thanks. Samantha
To win, please leave a comment below from December 8th to December 12th at 5pm PST for a chance to win. You can write your email at ____ dot com so your email won't be picked up by spammers. Thanks. Winner will be picked by December 14th. Sorry no international shipping.
Good luck!
A question for you:
Do you ever buy fabric without any specific intention or do you always have a project in mind when you buy fabric?
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for helping me clear out my craft closet. :)

The white fabric did not photograph well so here is a close up. It has overlapping circles on it.

I buy a lot of fabric without a project in mind. I'm trying to change that, and only buying for specific projects, but it's challenging. I have 3 kids and my youngest just turned 2 so I really relate to your so many projects so little time comment.
ReplyDeleteLol I always buy fabric just because I like it and when it comes time to make something I never have the coordinating fabric to go with it.
ReplyDeleteI sure have bought fabric without a project in mind! Some are too lovely to pass up. I will always find a use for them later!
ReplyDeleteI often just buy fabric -- if I have a general idea of what I want to use it for I make a guess as to how much I need!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the great giveaway. I always buy fabric because I like it. Then when I start to make a project, I will buy other fabrics to go with it.
ReplyDeleteI use every excuse I can to buy fabric with or without a project in mind.
ReplyDeleteI often buy without a project. Especially if I love the fabric. :)
ReplyDeleteI buy a lot of fabric without a project, but then always have to buy more to finish the project...
ReplyDeleteboth, but need to use up my stach
ReplyDeleteMost of my stash was bought without a project in mind. I just love fabric, it's better than candy.
ReplyDeleteI'll take any of it gladly. And I can totally use some white on white! Thanks for the chance to win it Samantha!
ReplyDeleteFabric purchases come both for specific projects and for no reason at all except that I love it!
ReplyDeleteI buy fabric because of how it looks. I'll figure out what I'll use it in later. :) (At least, that's how it usually goes - lol)!
ReplyDeleteI used to be really good at only buying fabric for a purpose, but lately have not been doing so well. Black Friday really beat me up. ;)
ReplyDeleteMost of the time I am an impulse buyer. If I really like I buy a lot of it
ReplyDeleteI often buy fabric without any specific project in mind. I make a lot of scrappy quilts (although they're not strictly from "scraps"!) so it works for me.
ReplyDeleteI usually have a project in mind when buying a fabric but there are times when a sale or particular print is irresistible even when I don't have plans for it.

I do buy fabric without a project in mind - I wish I didn't though! I have a fabric addiction ;-)
ReplyDeleteI usually buy fabric that catches my eye, then when I want to make something with it I have to go buy more to match up.
ReplyDeleteI generally buy fabric with a certain purpose in mind, but that being said, if it is a super deal and I think it is pretty fabric I will buy it just because. grecomara at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteI often buy fabric just because I like it. I like scrap quilts so almost anything will go. Thanks for the opportunity.
ReplyDeleteI buy fabric when I love it, and the price is right. If I don't have an idea in mind, I buy 2 yards - it's enough to do most basic projects with !
ReplyDeleteI do both...mostly just to add to my stash when I find some on sale!
ReplyDeleteI'm new to sewing, so I've not bought a bunch of fabric yet, but I've seen so much that I LOVE that I have no idea what I would do with it, and yet I'd love to receive it.
ReplyDeleteI think that red bandanna fabric would be a great fabric to pair with denim for an apron, or quilt, or pillow, or fabric baskets...
I do both. Sometimes I grab fabric just because it strikes my fancy and I know I'll be kicking myself over it later and sometimes I buy specifically for a project.
ReplyDeleteYea I do it all the time.. I need a fabri-holics meeting please
ReplyDeleteI buy fabric to "build my stash" but honestly, whenever I make a project I usually end up buying specifically for it. Building my stash is just an excuse to decorate my craft room which is just and excuse to hoard.
ReplyDeleteI do buy fabric without a plan. I buy it because I love it!
ReplyDeleteI do both. I usually buy fabric because I like it, but sometimes I do buy for a specific project
ReplyDeleteI try not to buy fabric without a project... but it happens! Some fabric is just too beautiful not to buy.
ReplyDeleteI buy both ways. Some for projects others that I just have to have!
ReplyDeleteI buy fabric just because I can't help myself!
ReplyDeleteI buy fabric with specific projects in mind, but they sometimes end up in my stash. I used to buy online, but those often ended up in my stash when they arrived and turned out to be a different color than the picture.
ReplyDeleteI usually buy with only a purpose in mind... but sometimes that purpose changes! thanks!
ReplyDeleteI used to buy with abandon but know I have a specific project in mind.
ReplyDeleteI used to buy fabric willy nilly but I put a moratorium on fabric purchases! But that doesn't mean I can't WIN some!
ReplyDeleteI buy fabric because I like it and then think of a reason to use it later.
ReplyDeleteI used to buy fabric without a project in mind, but now I have several shelves of fabric to pull from, so I restrain my myself and only buy what I need for a specific project. I'm at an age when I need to start thinking about what kind of mess my children will have to deal with when I'm gone. :)
ReplyDeleteI do buy fabrics with no plan, usually bundles though which helps when I do eventually use them.
ReplyDeleteI often buy fabric with no specific plan, which is why I can no longer walk through my sewing room.
ReplyDeleteI try to always have a project in mind before I buy since space is limited
ReplyDeleteI don't get to shop alone at fabric stores so typically wait until I have something in mind.
ReplyDeleteI very seldom buy fabric with a particular project in mind! I know where the "holes" in my stash are, and I frequently purchase fabric on sale that is not like what I have at home. Happy holidays!
ReplyDeleteOh I definitely buy fabric just because I like it. I've gotten a little better about not doing that tough. Sometimes it's hard to resist!
ReplyDeleteI see fabric.... I like it.... I buy it.... I have a problem
ReplyDeleteI try not to buy more than a half yard of any fabric without a plan for it, but I love scraps and I will always end up trying to make room for more if I come across them.

ReplyDeleteI try to only buy fabric when I have a project in mind, but the more I quilt the more I buy fabric just because.....it's pretty, it's calling my name, peer pressure, it's fabric therapy, it needs a forever home......I can't help it anymore! :)
ReplyDeleteOften buy fabrics with no project mind. Sometimes no project is good enough. :P
